Jones
November 20, 1935 – May 7, 2018
Donna L. Jones
November 20, 1935 – May 7, 2018
Donna went home to be with the Lord while at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany on May 7.
Donna was born at home in Minden, Nebraska and was the only child of Perry A. and Thelma L. (Russell) Horton. When she was about one year old the family moved to Oregon, initially to Roseburg. Home was then at various places in Eastern Oregon & Washington as her father worked on a surveying crew for the US Army Corps of Engineers. In 1943 the family moved to St. Helens, OR where they stayed and she graduated from high school. While still there she married Everal A. Housley but they divorced and she moved to Albany where daughter Lorie J. (Housley) Kennerly (of Albany, OR) was born.
She then married Calvin E. Jones who had two children, Gary L. (Waihau Bay, New Zealand) and Debbie I. Jones. In the years that followed they relocated to the Lebanon area and had two more children, Diana L. (Nelson) and William P. (Bill). Donna and Calvin were divorced. Donna was preceded in death by her son Bill and stepdaughter Debbie. She had seven grandchildren: Brian Kennerly of Albany, OR, Matthew Kennerly of Rio Rancho, NM, Sean Nelson of Junction City, OR, Jeremy Nelson of Harrisburg, OR, Jesse Jones of Melbourne, Australia, Kayla (Jones) Peach of Napier, New Zealand and William Jones of Albany, OR. She had 13 great-grandchildren.
Early after high school Donna worked at Montgomery Ward in Portland and then US Bank as a teller in Albany until she moved to Lebanon. In the years that followed, she was a homemaker and food preserver extraordinaire. Donna was active with Tennessee School where she had children in school for over 20 years. She loved to read, crochet, draw, go to the ocean, and collect turtles.
The family will be having a celebration of Donna's life at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 21 at Comfort Suites, Albany, OR followed by burial at Willamette Memorial Park.
