Donna M. Midling, 70, of Albany went home to be with her parents Monday following a long illness.

Donna was born to Claude C. Lee and Mabel L. Schreckengost in Whittier, Calif. She spent most of her early childhood in Southern California.

She married Roger J. Midling on Oct. 26, 1963, in Anaheim, Calif. They lived in several states and Japan while Roger was completing his Navy career.

Donna was a member of the American Legion of Albany and lifelong sponsor of the Christian Feed the Children Foundation.

She provided childcare in her home for many years to Brandie and Nathan Melhorn of Albany.

Donna will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, and her ability to laugh in the face of adversity. Her sense of humor and many memories of times past were always part of her conversations, and Donna loved spending time with her family and reliving these former times with them.

Donna prided herself on being an excellent homemaker and faithfully cared for her family over the years. She could always be counted on to help others in need.

Donna loved her pets and enjoyed reading inspirational books, going to bingo and Spirit Mountain.

She is survived by stepfather "Pops" Dale Southerland and wife Anne; husband Roger; daughter Cindy and husband Richard; sons Raymond, and Dale Allen and wife Cynthia; brothers Ted and wife Janet, and Hank and wife Sherrie; sisters Peggy and husband Gary, and Sandy and husband Tim; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany. Interment will follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Albany.

Memorials may be made in her name to SafeHaven Humane Society.
