Scio, OR, resident Dorothy May Hearrell died Tuesday, at her home. She was 89. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, at Steele Funeral Home, 5050 Mt. Solo Rd, Longview, WA.

Dorothy was born in New Brunswick, NJ, to Russell and Grace Reid. She came to the Pacific Northwest in the 1960's, and settled in Longview and Castle Rock, WA. She was a waitress for many years and then spent her time loving and raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, gardening, baking, canning, farming, reading, and enjoying her many friendships. She enjoyed country living and continued to feed cattle through her late 80's. Dorothy was able to remain in her home on her son's acreage in Scio, OR, until her passing. Survivors include her loving son and daughter-in-law, John and Catherine Margaronis of Scio, OR; her daughter, Stephanie Marek of San Diego, CA; her grandchildren, Ashley Graczyk of Albany, OR, and John Margaronis II of Happy Valley, OR; and three other grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dolph Hearrell, and her brother and sister, Robert and Virginia Reid and Step-sister Dot and Step-Brother Edward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to the National Kidney Foundation.
