Dorothy L. Hull obituaryOctober 15, 1920 - April 3, 2008Dorothy Loraine Hull, 87, of Albany died April 3 at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. Dorothy's commitment to social justice led her to help create the St. Mary's Parish Soup Kitchen in 1983, which she directed for about a decade. Dorothy accompanied her husband, Hugh Hull, to Oregon from Kansas when he became the Albany city manager in 1975. She relished being an Oregonian and was a devoted Democrat. Hugh Hull died in 1982.Dorothy was born in Topeka, Kan., to Vernon and Julia (O'Neil) Eagon. She attended Catholic schools in Beloit, Kan. After graduating in 1942 from Marymount College in Salina, Kan., Dorothy worked as a registered dietician in Michigan, Texas and Colorado. She met Hugh Hull in 1945, when he was a student at Colorado College and she was working for the school. They married in 1946 and reared 10 children. She most recently lived at the Mennonite Village. Dorothy is survived by children Thomas and his wife Wendy, Robert and his wife Debby of Derby, Kan., John and Christopher of Wichita, Kan., Anne Skinnell and husband Rob, of La Crescenta, Calif., Linda of Issaquah, Wash., Bruce and wife Victoria, of Charlotte, N.C., Joseph and wife Julie of Concord, Calif., and Mary Hull Caballero and husband Raymond, of Portland. Dorothy also is survived by 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dorothy's daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Hull, died in 1992.Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. also at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Patrick Walsh is scheduled to officiate. Interment will be at Willamette Memorial Park.
