Douglas Noel Cox
Jan. 31, 1952 - Jan. 19, 2013
Douglas Noel Cox, 60 passed away Saturday, surrounded by his wife and all of his children.
Douglas was born to James and Mary Catherine Cox in Springfield, Mo. After moving to California as a young man, he and his brother, Mike, spent their days surfing the beaches of California. Once he met his wife, Margaret Day, it was love at first sight and his whole world changed. They got married Oct. 3, 1970, and then settled in Norco, Calif., and awaited the birth of their first child.
Doug worked many different construction jobs in California, but the job he enjoyed doing the most was working for his father-in-law's pumping service. In 1985, Doug and Margaret decided to make a change and move to Bullhead City, Ariz. They lived there for eight years before moving to Albany in 1993. From the first day they moved to Albany, Doug was employed by I.P.M.G. Property Management Group, formally known as Forrest P. Bowman & Co. He worked for them as an apartment manager with his wife, Margaret, and did all the maintenance on the property. Doug was friends with all of his tenants; it was more to him than just being the maintenance man.
Doug was a man of God and lived his life through prayers and talks with his Lord. He always wore a cross around his neck. He will be so sadly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Cox, of Albany; children and their spouses Kennie Lynn and Peter Yeager, Jamie Kay Cox and Matthew St. John, Layla and Brent Montes, Dana and Ryan Ness, and Andrew Cox and Kelli Hardwick. He has 10 beautiful grandchildren, Garrick, Charissa, Haden, Michael, Tanner, Megan, Hailey, Destinee, Awneeka and Kiera. Beyond his immediate family, there are so many people who called him "Dad." He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike.
A private viewing will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany. A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at AAsum-Dufour. All of his friends are welcome.
