Dwight O. Cowdrey, 79, of Brownsville passed away on February 16, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 27, 1942, in Lebanon, OR, to his parents Floyd and Golda (Ireland) Cowdrey. He graduated from Central Linn High School in 1961.
On October 15, 1960, he married Donna A. Perry in Brownsville. They lived in Brownsville for one year and then moved to the Plainview area for 11 years. In 1972 they built their home and moved to his family ranch where they have lived ever since. Dwight enjoyed his family, animals, and working outside on his land.
Dwight worked for Santiam Lumber Company which later became Willamette Industries for 31 years. After the mill closed, he attended LBCC and became an auto mechanic at Larry's Auto Service near Halsey. Prior to Dwight's retirement he worked for Pimm Farms and was seasonally self-employed in custom baling. He was a longtime member of the Brownsville First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna; three daughters, Tena Fitzmorris; Karen (Jim) Ridley, and Sharon (Dennis) Gamroth; one brother, Don Cowdrey; three grandsons, Joshua (Heather) Fitzmorris; Patrick (Jessica) Fitzmorris; Dana (Kaylan) Harlow; granddaughter, Haley Harlow; three great-granddaughters, Sierra, Makenna, and Alena Fitzmorris; and great-grandson, Kane Fitzmorris.
At his request, a private memorial will be held by the family.
Donations may be made to Evergreen Hospice, Brownsville EMTs, and the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
