E. Marie Potter, 89, of Albany passed away on Sunday at her residence.
Marie was born in Brownsville to John and Lucy (Ashton) Whitaker. She graduated from Shedd High School and then attended Eugene Vocational School where she met Fred Mason Potter Jr. They married on Sunday, June 14, 1942, in Shedd. The couple moved to Albany in 1946. Marie worked for Mullen Feed and Seed and Blain Clothing in Albany and was past president of the Albany Elkettes. She enjoyed cross stich, sewing and dancing with her husband, Fred.
Marie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Fred Mason Potter of Albany; son Alan Potter and wife Barbara of San Clemente, Calif.; brothers Edwin Whitaker of Washington and Larry Whitaker of Beaverton; grandchildren Craig Potter, Julie Stowers, Benjamin Potter and Andrew Potter; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Dick Whitaker.
A visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with a graveside to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in care of the funeral home.
