Elizabeth Ann Richardson
Oct. 7, 1932 - Sept. 19, 2013
Elizabeth Ann Richardson, 80, of Albany, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at home on Thursday surrounded by her three daughters after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Cottage Grove to Mary Alice (Harbison) and Wilbur L. Workman Jr. She grew up in Cottage Grove and after graduation, attended Oregon State College. She later met and married Eugene Richardson with whom she had three daughters. They were active in the Elks Lodge in the 1960s and '70s and enjoyed many trips around the United States with the officers.
She was very active in her children's lives as they were growing up. She later began working for Carter Distributing as a bookkeeper and advanced to office manager, a position she continued for the next two owners: Riverside Beverage and later Premier Distributing, until her retirement. She liked to stay busy and began volunteering at the Albany Public Library shelving books in the children's section. After a few years, the library hired her part-time to shelve and she worked there until her diagnosis in July.
She enjoyed travel and visited Europe, Africa and trekked in Nepal. She enjoyed walking, hiking, sewing, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and visiting the casino with friends.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Bob Chamberlin of Crooked River Ranch, Lori and Jeff Egly of Salt Lake City, and Cheri and Jim Damitio of Blodgett; sister Jeannette Baker and husband Alton Baker Jr. of Eugene; grandchildren David, Allison, Erika, Andrew and Quinn; and great-grandson Preston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Albany Public Library.
