Ella M. Marcotte 94 of Philomath, passed away on Wednesday, at "Peace of Mind" Adult Foster Care home in Albany. She had lived there since 2008 under the care of Dottie McKenna.

Ella was born in Cloud County, Kansas to Frank and Rose Fief . On January 5, 1937 she married Eli Marcotte. For 50 years they worked at everything as a team from farming to truck driving. In 1951 they left Kansas and moved to Oregon. Ella lived in Albany from 1951-1989. In the 50's she worked at Albany General Hospital. In the 60's and 70's they bought a dairy farm and milked cows. Finally in the 80's she worked as a cook and a bus driver for the Albany School District. She retired in 1989 and moved to Philomath to be near her son and daughter in law Danna Marcotte, who she said was her best friend.

Ella was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany and later in Corvallis. She was devoted to her church in a quiet way, which was characteristic of her graceful spirit .

Her hobbies revolved around home including family gatherings, raising flowers, cooking, baking, and preserving food from her vegetable garden. She was a simple woman of simple needs who never asked for much, but was always a joy to those who surrounded her., She was a kind sweet lady who will be truly missed by her loved ones.

Ella is survived by sons Marvin Marcotte of Philomath and Rick Marcotte of McMinnville; daughter Janice Morehouse of Cooper Center, Alaska; two sisters Dorothy Hovell of Clyde, Kansas and Rene Skinner of Tempe, Arizona; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Edna Sorrell; and brothers Elmer Fief, Leo Fief and Virgil Fief.

She will be entombed privately at Twin Oaks Mausoleum.
