Ernest (Ernie) SmithOct. 10, 1948 - Feb. 24, 2010Ernie Smith, 61, of  Albany passed away Wednesday at his home due to complications from Leukemia.He was born in Los Alamos, N.M., the son of Harry and Pat (Bodkins) Smith.  Ernie married Judy Ann Oliver in Soap Lake, Wash., on Oct. 18, 1969.He was a steady, honest, patient and loving husband and father who passed away after a brave battle with cancer. He enjoyed golfing, fixing things, talking politics, writing poetry and working on projects.  He most recently worked at CH2M Hill as a project accountant. Ernie was a witty man of few words who had a knack for making people feel comfortable.  Ernie will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.He is survived by wife, Judy Smith of Albany; son Branden Smith of Portland; daughters Courtney Smith of Eugene, Lauren and husband Mike Beam of New York, N.Y., Carrie Smith and Sinclair of San Diego, Calif.; sisters Candy Bradley, Dottie MacVeigh, Holly Smith and Sally Ballard;  and granddaughter Anika Smith. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents.A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to "Team Beam."  For more information, contact AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )
