Ervin Denny MaddyDec. 27, 1923 - July 23, 2008Ervin Denny Maddy, 84, passed away Tuesday at his home in Albany from Bone Cancer.Ervis was born in Topeka, Kan., to William "Earl" and Gertrude "Edith" Maddy. He served his country in Europe during World War II.In 1946, he married Lois ByBee Perkins, living first in Twin Falls, Idaho, and then in Sweet Home where he worked in the Lumber Mills. He enjoyed camping, hunting and raising his three children.In 1960, the Maddy family moved to Southern California where Ervin worked as a cement truck driver until his retirement. While living in California, Ervin enjoyed motorcycle riding with his wife and developed his love of golf. During his retirement, he played in golf tournaments and on golf courses throughout the Northwest and California.In 1984, Ervin and Lois moved back to Idaho to care for family members. In 1999 they returned to Oregon where they once again became caregivers for their son, Danny, who suffered from early onset Alzheimer's Disease and Ower Neurological Degenerative Disease. Danny passed away in 2006.Ervin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Maddy; daughter Marsha Maddy of Corvallis; son David Maddy of Albany; grandchildren Jason D. Maddy of Poway, Calif., and Katherine Burkett of Ohio; and sister Earline Gardner of Sedona, Ariz.He was preceded in death by his older sister, Velma Eames.A private viewing for family and friends will be at 2 p.m. Monday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Benton Hospice Service for providing wonderful medical care and support to the Maddy family.Ervin will be remembered for his gentle and caring love shared with his family throughout his lifetime.Aasum-Dufor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
