March 17, 1937 – October 15, 2024
Ervin John Siebrecht, 87, passed away on October 15th, 2024, from cancer, in his home in Albany, Oregon. He was born on March 17th, 1937 in Graceville Village, Minnesota to his parents Ervin and Florella (Bennett) Siebrecht. He grew up in Cut Bank, Montana.
Erv left Cut Bank to join the Navy in 1955. Upon being discharged in 1958, Ervin joined his shipmate, Keith Lilly, in coming to Oregon where he met Hazel Millard whom he married on July 4th, 1958. He would remain friends with Keith, who married Hazel's sister, Nancy, until Keith's death in 2010. Erv would support his family of seven by working road construction until his retirement in 1999.
Ervin loved to travel the country with Hazel in their fifth wheel trailer and thrived at gatherings of their large family. He enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren with home, yard and car projects, as well as woodworking and gardening. He was loved by everyone who met him. He will be remembered for his big smile and willingness to help anyone who needed it. He was a carrier of Lynch Syndrome and fought cancer from the age of 43.
Ervin was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brothers Gaylord Siebrecht and Odell Siebrecht and his grandson, Kevin Rackham. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; their daughter, Launee Reader and her husband, Geoff, of Tigard, Oregon; their daughter, Cindy Rackham of Albany, Oregon; their son, Neil Siebrecht of Gold Hill, Oregon; and their daughters Nancy Siebrecht and Dina Siebrecht, both of Lebanon, Oregon. He is also survived by his brother, Myron Siebrecht, seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
A service will be held on November 7th, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Albany Missionary Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held on November 9th, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Lake Creek Historical Society in Lake Creek, Oregon.
