Esther Trelles KarstensApril 1, 1924 - July 10, 2010Esther Trelles Karstens, 86, of Albany died Saturday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.She was born in Lebanon to Carl and Olga (Stuber) Lucht. She attended Albany schools and graduated from Albany High School. She married Richard W. Karstens on Nov. 26, 1944, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Albany. The couple worked together on the family grass seed farm and peach orchard near Oak Grove School from 1944 to 1987. She was an active member of the Altar Society and the Choir at Faith Lutheran Church. She was also a member of "The Friends '0 Mine" Club and the Fairmont Grange. She was an avid reader enjoyed embroidery and traveling with her husband to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama, Israel and Egypt as well as the western and mid-western states. She served on the Benton Co. Elections Board at the Oak Grove School for many years.She is preceded in death by her husband Richard; and sister Joan Bartz. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Karstens of Albany; brother Leroy "Bud" Lucht of Albany; and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church. The graveside committal will br at the Palestine Cemetery with a reception following at the church.Contributions in Esther's name may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
