Obituary

EUNICE MAUDINE HARPER BLACKLOCK

Eunice Maudine Blacklock, 85, of Albany passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday surrounded by many of her loved ones.
Eunice was born in Littlefield, Texas, to Ava and "Shafter" Harper. Her family lived in Texas where Eunice attended Slaton High School before they moved to Hollister, Calif., where she graduated from Hollister High School.
In 1946, Eunice met the dashing Glenn Alvin Blacklock. On Feb. 24, 1946, they secretly eloped and didn't tell their families they were married until a month later. Shortly after they wed Glenn enlisted in World War II, he served as a heavy bombardier, participating in over 40 mission. When Glenn retired from the military from the office of the 1st Lieutenant, he and Eunice settled in Salinas, Calif., to raise their family.
Glenn and Eunice had two boys, Gary George and Timothy Jon. While Eunice was raising her children she also volunteered with the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Service League from 1960-1977. She also enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den Mother to her sons' scout troops.
In 1979 Eunice and Glenn moved to Albany to be closer to their first grandchild, Cameron Matthew, born to Gary and Laurie Blacklock.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, who passed away in 2008; and son Timothy who passed away in 2009.
Eunice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Linda Blacklock; grandchildren Cameron Blacklock, Ashley Custis and Whitney Blacklock; great-grandchildren Olivia Nilsen, Chase Mello, Bella Osborne and Thaden Blacklock; and beloved caregivers Misty Evans and Angelina Daily.
Over the past five years Eunice was attended to by several wonderful caregivers and was guided into a peaceful rest with the gentle assistance of Evergreen Hospice. The family wishes to thank all who have loved and cared for Eunice through her final years.
A viewing will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Oakville Cemetery.
