Felix Trevino Cuevas, 89, of Albany passed away Saturday at his home.
He was born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. When he was 3, he moved to Alamo, Texas, with his father and four brothers. While in Alamo he worked as a surveyor and a citrus grafter. Felix married Margarita Mendez in Alamo in 1946 they were married for 66 years. In 1963 Felix brought his family to Jefferson and in 1964 they moved to Albany and lived there until his death.
Felix worked for Steve Glaser Farms until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946 during World War II. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska and Panama to guard the Panama Canal. He was very proud of serving his country; he always shared his war stories with his family and anyone that was willing to listen.
Felix is survived by his beloved wife, Margarita of Albany; children Jesusa Carrizales of Jefferson, Florinda McDonald of Lebanon, Estella Dean of Corvallis, Mary and Roy Cuevas of Albany, and Sandra Warneking from Albany; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raul Cuevas; grandson Mario Cuevas; and four brothers.
Felix enjoyed showing his military metals, working in garden, mowing the lawn and outdoor activities. His love and passion was his family. He loved playing with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Willamette Memorial Park.
