Florence Adeline (Schrock) Gerig of Albany, Oregon, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at her home in the Mennonite Village.

She was born on April 23, 1932, the youngest of four children, in Albany, Oregon, to Elmer and Bertha (Heyerly) Schrock.

Florence married Elmer Gerig on August 27, 1950. They were married for 68 years and raised ten children before Elmer passed away on February 23, 2019.

Florence was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved spending time with her family.  She always had a smile and a hug for each one.

She loved music and was often heard humming a hymn as she went about her daily activities.

Florence was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church.  She was baptized April 14, 1946, at age 13.  She enjoyed participating in the Women's Sewing Circle and singing in the Christmas Pageant Choir.  She was a quiet, compassionate woman who cherished her time spent with fellow believers.

She volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Lebanon for several years.  A few hobbies were sewing, working on crafts, reading her Bible, crossword puzzles and word searches, and collecting dolls. She also loved flowers. She enjoyed strolling through her yard, admiring flowers, and occasionally stopping to smell the roses.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Gerig; parents, Elmer and Bertha Schrock; brother, Eldon Schrock; sister, Dora Willems; and great grandson, Marvin Gerig.

She is survived by her children, Clayton Gerig of Lebanon; Russell (Brenda) Gerig of Lebanon; Joyce Vomocil of Albany; Joleen (Jeff) Blunck of Corvallis; Roberta (Phil) Schrock of Iowa City, Iowa; Dale Gerig of Lebanon; Nathan (Karen) Gerig of Albany; Kenny (Shanna) Gerig of Albany; Vernon (Ellen) Gerig of Mt. Sterling, Iowa; Tim (Susan) Gerig of Albany; 32 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and her brother, Perry Schrock, of Albany.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 12, at Fairview Mennonite Church, Albany, OR.  Visitation 9:30 a.m. Funeral 10:30 a.m., with Graveside Service following.  After services a meal will be provided in the Fellowship Hall.
