Obituary

Frances L. Jacob, affectionately known as Fran, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on August 31, 2024, in Albany, Oregon. Born on December 19, 1935, in Craig, Colorado, Fran's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service, woven with the threads of family, faith, and community.

Fran's early years were spent in the small town of Wishram, Washington, where she made history as one of two students to graduate from Wishram School in 1953. Her educational achievements laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and commitment to her community.

After moving to Oregon from Nebraska, Fran embarked on a fulfilling career at the Albany Chamber of Commerce, where she demonstrated her remarkable ability to connect with people and support local businesses. Later, she continued her service to the public at the Linn County Clerk's Office, where she remained until her well-earned retirement in 1998.

Family was the cornerstone of Fran's life. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years 8 months, or as calculated by Marvin Jacob on the day of her passing, 25,733 days with whom she shared a beautiful journey filled with mutual support and affection. Fran's legacy lives on through her daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna and Scott Elliott, and Angela and Justin Adams. She was a cherished sister to Fern McFadden, Vickie Eberhart, and Richard "Jim" Ellifritz. Fran's role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, as she showered love and wisdom upon her grandchildren Jeremy and Christina Jacob, Kasandra Edwards, Kourtney Loe, Nathan and Macy Loe, Brooke and Blake Smith, Rylie Thompson and Tanner Garthwaite, Kyler Thompson and Avery Adams. Her great-grandchildren Aliyah Loe, Austyn Hicks, Madysen and Delayne Jacob, Ryder, Weston, and Paislee Smith, along with her great-great-grandchild Presley Hicks, also held a special place in her heart. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Florence Ellifritz, and her sisters, Billie Jean Wagner and Marie Phifer Smith.

Fran's interests and talents were as varied as they were impressive. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, and crocheter, creating beautiful works that will be cherished for generations. Her baking brought joy to many, and her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit. Fran's involvement with Immanuel Lutheran Church was not just a testament to her faith but also to her belief in community and service. She was a pillar of the church, participating wholeheartedly in its activities and outreach programs, including the Altar Guild and Ladies Guild.

Those who knew Fran will remember her for her warmth, her generous spirit, and her unwavering kindness. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her presence was a source of comfort and joy to many. Fran's life was a reflection of her beliefs—a life well-lived in service to others, filled with love and guided by faith.

As we bid farewell to Fran, we celebrate a life that has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. Her memory will be treasured, her lessons will continue to guide, and her spirit will forever be a beacon of love and strength for her family and community. Fran's journey through life was a testament to the beauty of a life dedicated to family, faith, and friendship, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
