Franklyn Earl Odegard passed away the afternoon of November 8, 2024. He was born March 12, 1941, in Tacoma, Washington to Edward and Florence Wilkowski Odegard. He attended McCarver Junior High and was a proud graduate from Stadium High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Western Washington State College, a master's in education from Western Oregon State College, and his administration certificates from the University of Oregon. After 34 years in education, he retired to spend more time with his family and to travel.
Frank was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Janice Allen, in 1962. He was a loving father to four children and supported their activities. He enjoyed gardening, sports, playing cards, family time and was an active member of the Lutheran church. Frank rooted for the Ducks--Once a Duck, always a Duck. He also cheered for the Beavers. Frank coached youth sports and was passionate about making the lives of children better. He played and coached slow pitch softball into his mid-70s, until Parkinson's disease slowed him down.
Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jan, daughters Connie Johnson and Abbey Walker, sons Kurt Odegard and Kyle Odegard and his wife Trisha Farver, six grandchildren, and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edward Odegard, his sisters Louise Murphy and Bonnie Nelson and his son-in-law Tony Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Albany, Oregon.
