Obituary

Frank Eugene Thurson, 82, of Albany died Sunday in Corvallis.

He was born in Arock to Frank and Alice Thurston. He serviced in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1946 to 1947 where he served in Alaska in the 10th rescue squadron. He married Zelna on June 10, 1947, in Salem.

Frank spent a lot of his time playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 36 years.

He was a long time NRA member and a huge supporter. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, model trains and taking photos.

Frank is survived by his wife, Zelna Thurston of Albany; son Gary Thurston of Albany; daughters Janice Parks of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cathie Cates of Woodbury, Tenn., and Gail Fisher of Prineville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, 800 34th Ave. St., Albany.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Albany American Legion or Calvary Baptist Church Missions.
