Frankie MartinDecember 2, 1924 - July 25, 2007Frankie Martin, 82 of Albany, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Timberview Care Center.He was born December 2, 1924 in Lakeview, Oregon the son of Joseph and Virginia (Ferura) Martin. He was raised in Lakeview and attended schools there. Frankie enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Samuel Jackson a naval destroyer which was sank in 1944 he was one of only 13 survivors. Frankie received a medical discharge and was sent to the VA Hospital in Portland, OR. He met Lillian C. Padilla in Portland and they married in Reno, NV. on July 2, 1957 and they came to Albany in 1959. Frankie and Lillian renewed their wedding vows on July 2, 1971 in Reno. Frankie worked for Hub City Plywood and retired in the mid 1970's and he also raised cattle for many years. Frankie was proud of his service to his country and enjoyed Horses.Frankie is survived by his wife of 50 years Lillian Martin of Albany and a sister Mary Luicich of Medford, OR 3 nieces and 7 nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Joe Martin in January of this year.At Frankie's request no public services will be held. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements. (
