Gaile EichelbergerMarch 26, 1934 - Dec. 18, 2009Gaile Eichelberger, 75, of Albany died Friday at the Mennonite Home.He was born in Shickley, Neb., to Glenn and Helen (Kuhns) Eichelberger. He was the oldest of eight children.On July 10, 1955, he married Laura Mae Roth in Sweet Home.As a young man, he started out in Nebraska as a farmer. Locally he worked for Cooley's Dairy for approximately 10 years and retired from Albany-Lebanon Sanitation after 27 years of service.Gaile was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church and served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed working in his yard and in the yards of his family and neighbors. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.Gaile is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Stanley.He is survived by Laura Mae, his wife of 54 years; son Marlin of Merced, Calif.; daughters Susan and husband Danny Bean of Lebanon; Carol Eichelberger of Albany; Rebecca and husband Larry Robles of Ontario, Calif., Delene and husband John Powell of Albany, and Anita and husband Wendell Hostetler of Lebanon; grandchildren Yolanda and husband Ted Gonzalez, and Luke Powell; great-grandson Ted Gonzalez IV; brothers Joe and Ray, both of Renton, Wash., Merle of Olympia, Wash., and Max of Kernville, Texas; sisters Elvera Eichelberger of Arvada, Colo., and Arla Yu of Overland Park, Kans.A visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Mennonite Church. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., with committal service at the Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.Contributions can be made to Christian Aid Ministries or the Timothy Fund in care of Fairview Mennonite Church.Aasum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
