Gale M. Walker, 85, of Scio passed away at his home.
He was born on the family farm in Lewisburg, the son of Marion and Della (Davenport) Walker. Gale was raised in the Willamette valley and graduated from Albany Union High School in 1943. He married Hattie Marie Klutke on her parents' farm in Albany on July 28, 1950. Gale was a Dairy farmer then worked for Western Kraft Paper Mill for 17 years before buying a truck and working as a long haul trucker until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses and motor cycles. Gale very much valued his family, church family, and Christian faith, and was a long time member of Scio Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hattie M. Walker; sister-in-law Georgia Burmester; son Tom McMillen; daughter Ramona Taschler; and several other foster children; three nieces; and four nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Scio Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice/ Home health or the Scio Baptist Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements (
