Gary Lynn Pfeifer, age 70, passed away after extended illness on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at home in Albany, Oregon. He was born to Darwin and Arlene (VanDorn) Pfeifer in Missoula, Montana, on July 26, 1951. He grew up and attended schools in Missoula and graduated from Hellgate High School in 1971 and started working at Eddy's Bakery. He then joined the National Guard for military training and returned home to his bakery job, where he met and married Ramona Wohlwend in 1973. After having a son, Jeremy Lynn, they moved on to bakeries in California. Later they moved on to Pocatello, Idaho, where daughter Julie Ann was born. Soon after he moved on to Spokane, Washington, where he raised his children. He then switched jobs to Hewlett-Packard to get weekends off so they could go to the many old car Rod Runs he loved, runs with friends to many different states driving his 1937 Plymouth or later his 34 Roadster.
Gary is survived by his wife, Ramona; son Jeremy L. Pfeifer; daughter Julie Ann Smith; granddaughters Riley Noelle and Sydney Joy Smith; sisters Leola Kay Pfiefer and Martha Guoy; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Darwin and Arlene Pfeifer; sisters Patricia Jeffries and Mahala Arlene Pfeifer.
A celebration of his life luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, at Northside Park in Missoula. All are invited to attend the celebration of life and bring a card stating an interesting or funny story you remember about Gary! No flowers please! Cards will be on display and family will keep. Interment of his ashes will be at 2 p.m. on August 21 at the Missoula Cemetery, 2000 Cemetery Road.
