George William Elliott
Aug. 9, 1949 - Nov. 30, 2016
George William Elliott, 67, lost a quick, yet courageous, battle with cancer on Nov. 30, 2016.
George was born Aug. 9, 1949, to Troy and Joan Elliott in El Paso, Texas.
After high school, George joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country and did two tours in Vietnam.
After honorable discharge from the service, George began working in construction where he spent several years working for ODOT and then Walling Sand and Gravel from which he retired.
After his retirement George began traveling the country.  It was in his travels that he met and fell in love with his travel soul mate Sam Mackinder of Nevada.
George loved traveling; he enjoyed restoring classic cars and collecting guns. George had a huge heart, warm smile and an adorable case of germ phobia resulting in the cleanliest of hands. He also loved spending time with his beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to Sam, George is survived by his brother, Mike Elliott and wife Michelle of Kentucky; sister Shirley Norwood of Virginia; daughters Brandi Elliott and Christina Cobb and husband Matt of Albany; son Derick Olson and wife Leah of Albany; granddaughters Alysia Orr and husband Roy, Baylie Dearden, Peyton Olson and Camree Cobb; grandsons Alec Olson and Matthew Cobb II; and great-grandchildren Ryker and Rowynn Orr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Johnny; and great-grandson Maxx.
A private memorial is planned with a celebration of life at a later date.
AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements (aasum-dufour.com).
