George Alvin Jendresen
July 29, 1930 - Aug. 27, 2016
George Alvin Jendresen, 86, most recently of Salem, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Bonaventure of Salem.
George was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Alvin and Ima (Wilson) Jendresen. He grew up in the Whitehall, Montana, area graduating from high school there.
On June 10, 1950, he married Reva Ruth Tague. They resided in Washington until 1970 when they moved to Scio.
He was a member of Skyline Assembly of God in Scio for more than 40 years, then of Albany First Assembly of God. George cheerfully and faithfully served as a church volunteer is many capacities, alongside his wife, wherever they lived.
George retired in 1995 after a lifetime of work as a machinist and mill right. He grew up around farming and ranching in Montana and got his taste of it in a small way while living in Maple Valley, Washington. He loved his acreage in Scio and enjoyed his "hobby farming."
George is survived by daughter Carol Bartlett of Astoria; son John Jendresen of Salem; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Donna Casebolt of Walla Walla; two nephews, two nieces and two grandnieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and, in April 2016, his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruth.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Skyline Assembly of God Church in Scio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at Skyline Assembly of God Church in care of the funeral home.
