George Melvin MannJuly 27, 1915 - February 24, 2009George Melvin Mann, 93 of Albany, passed away.  George was born in S. Dakota to George and Cecilia (McMullen) Mann.  George served in the Civilian Conservation Corp for a period of time, and then tried his hand at farming.  George moved to Portland in 1936.  He married Theresa Kolibaba in l941.  They made their home in Portland where George worked in the shipping yard doing mechanical and welding jobs during World War II.  He then changed careers and worked in Real Estate before moving to Albany in 1970 where he worked as an Appraiser for the Linn Co. Assessor's office, retiring in 1980.George was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; loved to fish, RV in Arizona, and putter in his garden.George is survived by his son Robert Mann; daughters Susan McClelland, and Sandra Fuchs; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa and son Richard.Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Private burial will be held a Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.Memorial contributions may be made to Safe haven Animal Shelter.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.( www.aasum-dufour.com )
