Glen Franklin EmbersonJune 11, 1915 - February 19, 2009Glen Franklin Emberson, 93, of Albany went to join his beloved wife of 65 years, Vera (Hunter) Emberson on Thursday at his home.Glen was born in Oklahoma, the son of Henry Emberson and Mattie (Coulter) Emberson. Glen and Vera met at the Glad Tiding Bible Institute in San Francisco, where the two were married on July 9, 1938. His first church as a minister was in Oakridge, followed by a move in 1941 to New England where they started a church in Meridan, Conn. After their son, William Stewart Emberson, was born in 1947, the ministry was moved to Hawaii. After seven years the family returned to California. Glen worked for the Department of Corrections and assisted other pastors, taught Sunday School and helped in jail services and other ministries. In 1989 he and Vera moved to Sutherlin, Or. At her passing he relocated to Albany to be closer to his sister Margaret Rotharmel and her family. Glen's last words spoken were "I love you Jesus" and everyday he told his kids "I'll see you in heaven."Glen was preceded in death by his mother and father; beloved wife Vera; son William; sisters Margaret Rotharmel, and Merle Ficthorn; and infant brother Earl.He is survived by his sister Jean Morris of Anaheim, Calif.; granddaughter Geri Denise Emberson and husband Todd Chittenden and great grandsons Stephan Hunter Chittenden and Morgan Gabriel Chittenden of Eureka, Calif; granddaughter Josefa Ann Andrews and husband James Edward Andrews and great-grandson James Edward Andrews Jr. and great-granddaughter Jasmine Dawn Andrews of Reading, PA.; niece/caregiver Jackie Ghormley; as well as many other family and friends who will all greatly miss his sense of humor. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Sutherlin. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangement (
