Glenn Daniel Roth, 89, of Albany passed away Tuesday morning at his home.
He was born in the family home near Lebanon to Daniel A. and Lizzie C. (Gerig) Roth. He married the love of his life, Naomi Beckler, on Nov. 28, 1946. He was a lifelong member of Fairview Mennonite Church.
Glenn began farming in 1946 on a rented farm outside Lebanon. In 1951 they purchased a farm east of Albany, where he actively farmed until age 68. He continued to live on the farm until his death. Along with farming, he enjoyed livestock and milked cows for many years. He also raised Hampshire pigs until a year or so ago. Many people through the years enjoyed stopping along side the road to watch his pigs. Glenn also looked forward to fall each year, when he went deer and elk hunting.
Glenn's family was very important to him and he loved each one dearly. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Naomi; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and LeRoy Redding of Nampa, Idaho, and Helen and Mark Trask of Albany; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Orie of Selma, Calif., and Ivan of Albany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Lloyd and Wilmer.
A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Fairview Mennonite Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice or Mennonite Missions Network, USA.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice and New Horizons In-Home Care for their love and supportive care of their loved one.
