IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Golda Lane
Ayers
December 14, 1948 – December 17, 2022
Golda Lane Ayers December 14, 1948 - December 17, 2022
Golda Lane Ayers was born in Monroe, Louisiana and died in his Albany, Oregon home surrounded by loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, Golda Ayers, his mother, Opal Marteal Estelle-Ayers and his sister, Sandra Marlene Choate. He is survived by his bride of 33 years, Connie Robb-Ayers, they were married March 21, 1989, and children from combined households Catherine Weber, Christine Bolf, Aaron Ayers, Jedidiah Ayers, Richard Robb, Patricia Ezell, Gary Robb, and 35 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a young man Golda worked odd jobs with his father on oil rigs until he hitchhiked to Oregon in 1976. Once in the valley, he worked in the rye grass fields for Dennis Glaser, it was at this time he began to love being in the fields watching the sunsets in the evening. The fascination grew into getting up at 2a.m. to drive to a friend's farm so he could see whatever event that was going on in the sky that night. He loved the sky! Later, he worked at LBCC in the welding program during weekdays and teaching forklift operation and team Oregon classes on the weekends. This allowed him to be an encourager and friend to many students.
He was a long time Member of Albany Hope Church, where he served on several mission trips as well as greeted until his health declined.
Golda, affectionately known as "Redman", never lost his Louisiana drawl nor is ear for Blues music. Motorcycles and golfing were among his passions, he belonged to Hub City A.B.A.T.E Motorcycle Club for many years. Making many friends and serving as sergeant at arms, road captain and other positions, participating in many runs, parades, and activities.
For fun Redman enjoyed camping and touring the Pacific Northwest on the Motorcycle with family and friends. In his spare time, he could be counted on to help a friend with just about any project. He along with his wife Connie rarely had an empty nest as they spent their married life supporting and encouraging their large family.
Rest easy Redman, you will be missed!
