Grace Helen ColletDec. 30, 1917 - July 12, 2010Grace Helen Collet, 92 of Albany, passed away Monday at Timberview Care Center. Grace Helen Collet passed away Monday and went to her eternal home. She was born to Charles & Clara (nee Pillep) Widbin in St. Louis, MO. She was active in her Sunday School at Salvator Evangelical & Reformed Church. Even after the class had gone their separate ways, they still met once a month for over 50 years. During WWII, Grace was a quality control inspector at a munitions plant. After the war, she met and married John W. Collet in 1948 while they both were working at the Army Records Center in St Louis. They had two children and were married for 19 years until John's death in 1968. After her children were grown, she worked in day care for many years. In 1984, she moved to Seattle and then in 1991 to Corvallis and Albany to be close to her children. She regularly volunteered at the churches she attended and at the senior centers. She donated blood until she was 90 years old. She enjoyed knitting things to give to people and enjoyed sending cards and letters to people and calling people on their birthday to sing Happy Birthday. She enjoyed baseball, and would regularly listen to the Cardinals and later the Mariners. She is survived by her daughter Sun Mill-Scout and her husband Sogn, son John Collet and his wife Diane, grandsons, Jameson, Jeff, and Samuel, many cousins, nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. A funeral service is being planned for late August. To honor Grace's lifelong love of children , memorials can be sent to the Faith Lutheran Church Youth Van Fund, 930 Queen Ave. SW, Albany OR 97321.
