Gwendolyn Rickert, 90, of Albany passed away on Wednesday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
Gwendolyn was born to Julius A. and Ida E. (Fairchild) Moore in Bell, Calif. When she was 4 years old the family moved to Jackson Hale, Wyo., for five years. During grade school Gwendolyn lived in South Gate, Calif. Then they moved to Monteray Park where she attended high school. She moved to Corvallis in 1940 and graduated from Corvallis High School in 1941.
Gwen married R.L. Rickert in 1946 and they lived in the same place for 66 years.
Gwen is survived by sons, Robert L. Rickert Jr. and wife Katherine of Elk Grove, Calif., and Kenneth A Rickert and wife Babs of Thompson Falls, Mont.; grandsons Michael Rickert of Gresham and Tyler Rickert of Corvallis; granddaughters Angela Rickert of Troutdale and Kendra Helvey of Thompson Falls, Mont.; stepgrandsons Brian and Zack Stone of Elk Grove, Calif.; great-grandchildren Skyler Rickert, Jarrett Mendoza and Madison Rickert; sister Virginia Hutchens and husband Michael of Salem; and niece Tresa and husband Calin Harmsworth of Jefferson.
Gwen enjoyed travel, fishing, hunting and her soap operas.
A service will be announced at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Methodist Church or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
