Harriet "Jean" Willcox
June 4, 1919 - December 17, 2015
Harriet "Jean" Willcox 96 of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday morning, at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House.
Jean was born in Wessington, SD to Ray and Georgia (Brainerd) Bothwell. She graduated from high school in Wessington in 1935 at the age of 16. After graduation her family moved to Coleman, SD where she met Herbert Bothern and they married in 1937. They separated in 1944 and later divorced in 1947. They had one child from this union, David.
During the war years of the 1940's she worked for the Boeing Co. in Renton, WA building B-29 bombers. In 1946 she met Robert "Willy" Willcox and they were married in 1947. They made their home in Vancouver, WA. until 1957, when they moved to Tacoma, WA. until 1962 when they moved to Albuquerque, NM where they lived until his death in 1989. Jean then moved to Haines, Alaska to join her son and helped raise her grandson Sean who was 5 at the time. She eventually relocated to Lebanon, OR in 1993 where the majority of her families were living.
Jean enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States, Immensely enjoyed her great grandchildren, and especially her times at the Lebanon Senior Center.
She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Lebanon.
She is survived by her son David R. Willcox of Lebanon, sister Janice M. Lahr of Sioux Falls, SD; grandsons; Todd and wife Sheri of Gig Harbor, WA. David, Steven, and Sean all of Lebanon and 10 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Southside Church of Christ, 196 S. Airport Rd; Lebanon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
