Obituary

Henrietta Anna Kleinfeldt Hinrichs
Age 95, passed away peacefully among her children and grandchildren on Tuesday, May 26th, 2015.
Henrietta Kleinfeldt was born in Bend, OR, on January 2nd, 1920. Her parents, Carl and Marie Kleinfeldt, settled in the high desert in the early years of the 20th century, where Carl drove a logging truck.
Henrietta graduated as the valedictorian of Bend High in 1938, and shortly after met and married a young Lutheran minister, Donald W. Hinrichs, who had come to Bend for his first pastoral position. Henrietta became Don's consummate accompanist, playing the organ for his Sunday services, serving beside him in various church ministries, and helping to raise their six children. Henrietta has been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran congregation in Roseburg, Bethlehem Lutheran in Lebanon, and Holy Cross Lutheran in Albany, where Don had served as pastor throughout his clerical career.
Henrietta was the loving mother of, and survived by, Donald Hinrichs, Jr. of Tigard, Roland Hinrichs of Eugene, Gary Hinrichs of Coos Bay, Dorene Fee of Sweet Home, Julie Hinrichs of Beaverton, and Lori Hinrichs of Vancouver. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jan Chism, Todd Hinrichs, Sheila Carlstrom, Bill Hinrichs, Carla Hinrichs, Melissa Kennedy, Jill Younce, Sarah Smith, Christie Hinrichs, Heidi Dodge; her niece Marsha Hoffman and nephew Michael Meier. Henrietta had seven great-grandchildren.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband Donald Hinrichs in 1986; her grandson Kevin Hinrichs; her sister Evelyn Meier; her brother Harold Kleinfeldt; and her mother and father.

Henrietta's faith was an enduring comfort to her, as was the service work that occupied much of her free time. She loved to read, was a generous contributor to many charities, sang in the church choir and sewed dozens of quilts over the years for various overseas missions. In her last year, she set her mind to sewing a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren, and left them with a gift to treasure forever.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Albany on Friday, May 29th, 2015 at 10:00AM. Memorials can be directed to the Good Shepard Women's Auxiliary, Holt International, and Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
