Obituary

John Phillips, 89 of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday at the Lebanon Community Hospital surrounded by family.

John was born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Tom and Grace Phillips. He spent his youth in Prairie Grove and moved to Lebanon, Oregon as a young man.

John worked as a miner, a logger, a horse trainer, and even in a circus once. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, going to garage sales, and gardening.

He was always your "go-to" for anything from fishing, hunting, horses, to life advice. He had a special touch to fix anything and everything. For him, the door was always open and the coffee was always on.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Macel Anna Phillips; Son Jess Phillips; Daughters Lori Hill and Delores Rusch; Sister Jannie Bennett; and his grandchildren Erin & Brandon, James & Shebly, Jess Jr. & Marie, Kassi, Abbey & Cody, and Heather; and first great-grandchild Hayley. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers, and two sisters.

A viewing for John will be held at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany, Oregon, on Friday, March 12, 2021, between 11 am - 2 pm. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 13, at 1 pm at the Riverside Cemetery in Siletz, Oregon.
