Irene Virginia Owens, 89, of Albany passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Mennonite Village.
Irene was born in St. Maries Idaho, to William and Margaret Vigue. She attended schools in Idaho and Washington. She lived most of her life in Albany, and a short time in Arizona.
On April 6, 1942, Irene married Cecil James Owens, and loved him in marriage until his death on June 4, 2003.

Irene loved going places with the family, such as deer hunting, fishing and camping in Central Oregon, especially Wickiup and Crane Prairie. She enjoyed playing bingo, and going to the thrift stores with her daughter Joy.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed the many friends she met in the community.
She is survived by her sister Alice Dyer of Salem; daughters Joy Henderson, and Kim Fryman and her husband Marty; grandchildren Michele and husband Mike Boone, Trevor Fryman, and Kevin Henderson all of Albany; great-grandchildren Ryan and Nathan Boone, Kaylynn Ackert; great-great grandchild Haley Ackert; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil James Owens in 2003, and son Michael James Owens in 2002.
A Memorial service is planned for a later date.
Irene's spirit will be in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed by all of her family and caregivers. The family would like to thank the Mennonite Home for all their care and support.
