Irene L. Wehrli, 79, of Albany died Thursday at her home.
She was born in Avon, S.D., the daughter of Martin and Bertha (Kurtz) Steinmeyer. In 1941 they moved to Albany and she graduated from Albany Union High School. Irene married W. Wayne Wehrli in Stevenson, Wash., on Aug. 6, 1955. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping at the Oregon coast and bowling. She bowled on the Pacific Power bowling team and was a member of the American Legion and VFW women's auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Wayne Wehrli of Albany; sons Jeffrey W. Wehrli and wife Lisa of Albany, and Ron B. Wehrli of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Jayne M. Jones of Albany; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters Doris Boylan of Eugene and Arlis A. Henshaw of Tangent.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Burial will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens following the reception.
