Obituary

Irva Loraine Ropp-Weis, 82, of Salem died Monday at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Salem.

Irva was born to William and Emma (Stutzman) Roth in Milford, Neb. She was raised in Milford. She married Daniel Ropp and the two of them moved to the Albany area where they farmed and raised five children. Daniel passed away in 1985.

In 1992, Irva married Phil Weis. The couple lived several years on the coast and then moved to Salem to be near Irva's daughter.

Irva loved to cook, bake, travel, quilt and embroider. Phil and Irva attended Dever-Conner Church.

Irva is survived by husband Phil Weis; her five children, Gene Ropp, Merv Ropp, Vilas Ropp, Mavis Peterson and Larry Ropp; stepchildren Diane Larzo, Carolyn Annalof, Jerry Wies, Larry Weis, Debra Kennel, Judy Weis, Scott Weis, Tom Weis and Beth Sims; brothers Harold Roth, Wayne Roth and George Roth; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Irva was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Ropp; infant daughter Merriette K.; one sister; two brothers; and stepson Michael Weis.

A viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept 16, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.
