J.S. "Curly" Melson, 90, of Albany passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015.
Curly was born on Aug. 19, 1925, in Haworth, Oklahoma, the son of Bertrand and Ozie Melson. After school, he joined the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Oregon where he worked in wood industries. He later moved to Kent, Washington, and worked for Boeing Aircraft where he was a painter. After retiring from Boeing, he moved back to the Albany area.
He enjoyed fishing and also enjoyed wood working. He especially enjoyed this times with his family.
Curly married Nancy Ward on Sept. 12, 1957.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Melson of Albany; sons Ken Melson, Bob Melson and Ron Melson; daughter Cindy Melson Steele; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Wayne Melson, who lived in Nevada.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the IOOF Cemetery in Lebanon.
