Obituary

Jack H. Cochell, 76, of Halsey went to be with the Lord on Wednesday surrounded by his family.
Jack was born in Lebanon to Ernest H. and Margie K (Jones) Cochell. He grew up in Brownsville and graduated from high school there in 1956 where he was active in sports. Jack married Alice F. Powell on Saturday, Jan. 10, 1959, in Halsey at the Methodist Church. He worked his career for lumber and paper mills and retired from Georgia Pacific in 2002. Jack and Alice enjoyed snow birding to Yuma, Ariz., and Jack was a member of the Halsey Shedd Volunteer Fire Department and Central Valley Assembly of God.
He enjoyed bowling and played in three leagues; he coached baseball and played in city league sports when he was younger. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, was a huge fan of OSU sports and the Oregon Jamboree. Jack loved his family and his animals.
Jackie is survived by wife Alice F. Cochell of Halsey; daughters Teri L. Smith and husband Timothy of Albany, and Vicki F. Slagel and husband Mark Anderson of Hailey, Idaho; sister Pamela S. Cochell of Brownsville; grandson Dustin L. Walker of Halsey; and granddaughter Ashley N. Walker of Albany.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Central Valley Assembly of God Church in Halsey with a reception to follow at the Pioneer Villa Banquet Room.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, the Halsey Shedd Fire Department, or Central Valley Assembly of God Church in care of the funeral home.
