James "Jim" Peter Iverson, 64, of Albany passed away Friday at his residence.
Jim was born in Tacoma, Wash., to Alfred and Helen (Benson) Iverson. He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and attended Bates Vocational Technical Institute.
He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in South Korea during the Vietnam Conflict. He received a hardship discharge due to the death of his father.
While in the Air Force Jim became interested in radio. His first job in radio was with KYES in Roseburg. He later worked for KGAL in Lebanon, KFLY in Corvallis and KSND in Salem.
Jim enjoyed volunteering for the Cub Scouts and the Big Brother Program, and was involved in many community events with the Albany Jaycees. He believed family always came first. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
Jim is survived by wife Paula Jean Iverson; sons Bobby Rost of Denver, Colo., Jeff Rost of Albany and Thomas "T.J." Iverson of Albany; daughter Malissa Freeman of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Andrew Rost, Madison Rost, Quinn Rost, Quintin Iverson, Colton Freeman and Peyton Freeman; brother Tom Iverson of Rainier; and cousin Ken Pasket of Port Orchard, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Al and son Tracy M. Rost.
No public service will be held.
