James C. Mills Jr.May 28, 1926 - Dec. 25, 2009James C. Mills Jr., 83, of Lebanon died Friday.He was born in Yakima, Wash., to James C. and Ruth (Ford) Mills. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and he was a middle weight boxing champion. He married Virginia Mills on May 25, 2000.James was the owner of Marsha's Antiques. He was best known for his outstanding craftsmanship at refurbishing antique furniture.He was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. He was a sponsor of a softball team, later becoming a coach and then a referee. He loved the Bible and was the men's prayer later at the Church of the Nazarene.James is survived by his wife, Virginia Mills of Lebanon; daughter Lavonna Mills of Albany; sons James C. Mills III of Albany and Brad Mills of Santa Cruz, Calif.; brothers Rod and Art Mills of Yakima, Wash.; and sisters Margie and Ida of Yakima.He was preceded in death by his parents.A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Lebanon Church of the Nazarene, 600 West D St.AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
