IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Carolyn
Krahmer (Babcock)
July 12, 1937 – November 29, 2024
Janet Carolyn Krahmer (Babcock), aged 87, passed from this life to her heavenly reward on November 29, 2024 in Albany, Oregon. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Janet was born on July 12, 1937 in Portland, Oregon. She grew up in West Union, Oregon, graduating from Hillsboro High School. She went on to graduate from Oregon State University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. Making her home in Corvallis, she worked for the Benton County Extension Board and judged food entries for county and state fairs. Her final residence was at the Mennonite Village in Albany.
She was known for setting her own needs aside for her family. She prepared thousands of meals, sewed clothing, planted flowers, nursed us to health, and even took a job in electronics to help pay for college. But more than anything, Janet loved to travel and see the beauty of America from their van or motor home.
Janet was a faithful Christian believer and showed her devotion through her service to the church. She was a longtime member of Calvin United Presbyterian in Corvallis, and for the last 30+ years at Hope Church (First Assembly of God) in Albany. She also served on missionary church building trips to places like Bolivia, Belgium, and the Caribbean.
Janet is survived by her two children, Linda Reeves (Lucas), Eric Krahmer (Barbara); her grandchildren, Benjamin (Alex) and Zachary Durrett, Adam (Katie) and Ryan (Cher) Krahmer, and Ahnika Stowell (Jeremy); and 9 great grandchildren. Last year, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert Krahmer. Also going before were her parents, John and Caroline Babcock, sister Julia (Stan), brother Lawrence (Jean), and grandson Jacob. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on February 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at Hope Church, 2817 Santiam Hwy SE, Albany OR 97322. A light lunch and snacks will follow. The family requests that any donations be made in Janet's name to the Hope Church Missionary Fund.
