Jan Miller, 77, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness complicated by cancer.Jan was the middle child and only girl, born to Gordon and Mary Lemley in Grass Valley, Oregon (born in The Dalles). She was very close to her brother (10 months apart) Ken Lemley, with Allan Lemley joining the family 7 years later. Growing up on a large wheat ranch near lots of family was a happy time. There were many family gatherings and lots of fun with friends. She graduated from Sherman County High School in 1966 and attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande for 1.5 years before transferring to OCE (Western Oregon) to pursue a teaching degree. It was there she met her true love, Royce Miller (December 24, 1949 – May 25, 2023). They were married for nearly 53 years. After graduation, they moved to Albany to raise their family — daughter Angie and son Ryan. They were very involved in their kid's sports and activities. After retiring in 2004, they were able to enjoy traveling by RV (their “Little House”) to many western states and spending time with family, including their three grandchildren: Kambris, Sabrina, and Henry. Jan had a large amount of love in her life from many friends and family. She enjoyed lunches with the gang at a favorite local restaurant, Cascade Grill, and good phone conversations with friends near and far in Albany and beyond. Her kindness and happy face were well known to all who knew her. Jan was preceded in death by her little brother Allan, who died almost exactly one year ago, and her husband Royce Miller, who passed away almost exactly three years ago this week. In lieu of flowers, Jan’s family would appreciate any donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
