Obituary

Janice Rea Skepton passed away on July 4, 2013 in Albany, OR. She was born September 8, 1941, in Haycock Township, Pennsylvania, the fourth of six children to Russell and Joanne Kramer. She was raised on a farm and graduated from Quakertown High School in 1959. Janice married Joseph Skepton on July 29, 1961. They had six children and lived in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Oregon. Janice was a kind and lovely person. She took great pleasure in the simple things and was a homemaker primarily. Janice enjoyed her family, numerous farm animals and pets, cross country adventures, many travels, crabbing at the Oregon Coast and she had a "green thumb". When she wasn't ill, Janice had a spark like no other.

Preceded in death by her son David Christopher Skepton in 1970. Janice is survived by her husband, her children, Jean Skepton of Coos Bay, Jessica Lay and son-in-law John Lay of Eugene, Cynthia Skepton of Banks, Jeffery Skepton of Albany and Jennifer Skepton of Oahu, HI, two grandchildren Alyssa (Lay) McGill and her husband Evan McGill and Nicholas Lay, twin great grandsons Duke and Roman McGill, just born on June 23, 2013. Janice is survived by her siblings, Connie Quier, Carol Scarborough, her twin sister Joan Miller, Rose Spanagel and Joseph Kramer, all from Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother nicknamed her "Porkchop" which always made her laugh.

A graveside service is planned at Gates Cemetary in Crow, OR on July 10 at 2pm. Aasum-Dufour Funeral Home of Albany is handling the arrangements. Donations in her name can be directed to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice of Albany.
