Jeanie Evans, 67, of Scio passed away early Friday morning at her home with family beside her from a long time battle with dementia.
She was born at home in Mountain Home, Ark., to Edger and Lizzy (Aklin) Chapman.
As a teen she worked at Scott Valley Ranch as a lifeguard. After graduating school, she met Andrew Jackson Evans, they married on Jan. 9, 1965, in Kansas. Later they moved to Oregon where she pursued a career at Stayton Canning Company for several years and later at Walmart.
Jeanie enjoyed needle work, camping and fishing. Give her a pole, box of worms, chair and a creek bank, and she was happy.
Jeanie is survived by her husband, Andrew "Jack" Evans of Scio; daughters Pamela Evans of Sweet Home and Kimberly Evans of Lebanon; brother Bobby Dean Chapman of Texas; and granddaughters Nyvona and Misty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Effy; brothers LaVern and Ray Champan; and son Michael Andrew Evans.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Providence Vineyard Christian Church in Scio with burial to follow at the Providence Memorial Cemetery in Scio.
