Jed Elmo Dyer Jr.March 6, 1948 - July 3, 2009Jed Elmo Dyer Jr., 61 of Albany passed away Friday in Albany.Jed was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Jed E. Dyer and Goria (Smith) Dyer.  His family moved to Oregon when he was seven months old.  He lived all of his life in Albany except for some time in Germany while serving in the Army.He attended grade school at Riverside, then junior high at Memorial and then graduated from Albany Union High in1966.  He attedned one yar of college at Columbia Christian in Portland, Oregon.He served in the Army from Nov. 1967 to Oct. 1969, as a medic specialist.He worked several months at Ti-Line in 1970 and then started working for Simpson Timber Co. until the plywood mill closed in 1989.He got his general contractors license in 1991 and worked building and remodeling homes until his recent illness.He was preceded in death by his father, Jed Elmo Dyer.He is survived by his mother Gloria May Dyer; wife of 28 years, Lajane (Kinion) Dyer; sons Keith R. Dyer and wife Valerie of Albany, Tim S. Dyer of Albany, Kelly L. Dyer of Albany; step-son Jeff W. Roebuck of Albany; grandchildren McKayla and Madilyn Dyer of Oakridge; Abbigail Dyer of Albany, Kieran and Reagan Roebuck of Albany; step-grandaughter Tatum Spowehn of Albany; brother Leon Dyer and wife Earleen of Albany; sisters Virginia Firston of Albany and Patricia Gosnell and husband Larry of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.His interest included hunting and fishing, camping and gardening.  He loved doing these activiteis with family and friends.  He was a very talented carpenter and built many pieces of furniture and a beautiful wooden drift boat.A celebration of Jed's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Circle Church of Christ in Corvallis.  The family is grateful for the kind and caring services of Evergreen Hospice and in lieu of flowers, contributions to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice may be made in care of the funeral home.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handing the arrangements.
