IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeffery James
Carley
April 26, 1950 – March 21, 2025
Jeffery James Carley, known affectionately as Jeff to his friends and family, passed away after a brave battle with cancer on March 21, 2025, in Albany, Oregon. Born on April 26, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, Jeff's life was a tapestry of courage, wisdom, and boundless love that touched all who knew him. Jeff grew up in Detroit, where he briefly attended Redford High School before joining the Marine Corp. His commitment to service was evident from a young age, as he went on to honorably serve his country as a Marine. His career was marked by his dedication to law enforcement and education. He proudly retired from the Lane County Sheriff's Office and later shared his wealth of knowledge as an instructor at Pioneer College and the Baghdad Police College in Iraq. Jeff's commitment to making a difference in the lives of others was evident in both his professional achievements and his personal interactions. Beyond his work, Jeff's heart was always with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathi Carley; his loving sons, Justin Carley and his spouse Kathie, and Tony Carley. Jeff was predeceased by his son Joshua Carley in 2009, and his siblings Toni Shore and Roger Carley, and his parents Ruth and Smokey in 1996. His memory will also be cherished by his brother Dale Carley and his wife Judy, his sister Linda Taylor and many nieces and nephews. Jeff's legacy will live on through his adoring grandchildren, Grant Carley and his wife Kalli, Rocco Carley, Shea Kennel and her husband Ely, Sophia GrosJacques and her husband Sam, and his great-grandson Gus GrosJacques, Grayson Carley, Meah Carley, Camden Carley and Zane Carley. Known for his courage, Jeff faced life's challenges head-on, whether on the job or during his final battle with cancer. His wisdom was a guiding light for his family, friends, and the many individuals he mentored throughout his career. Above all, Jeff was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His capacity for love knew no bounds, and it was this love that defined every aspect of his life. Jeff's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were joyful. He relished the time spent with his family, especially enjoying time with his grandkids and great-grandson. An avid sports fan, Jeff loved playing ping pong, golf, volleyball, but best of all he loved playing catch with his sons and grandsons. As we mourn the loss of Jeff, we celebrate a life well-lived. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, wisdom, and love—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. Jeff's impact on the world was significant, and his absence will be deeply felt by all. His faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus has been an inspiration and comfort to his family. He was a beacon of strength and kindness, and his story will be told with fondness and admiration for generations to come. Jeff's life was a testament to the power of prayer, living life with purpose and passion. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held to honor and remember Jeff on Saturday, April 5th at Noon at Jefferson Baptist Church. His life will be celebrated in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love that continues to flourish in the lives of those he touched. Jeffery James Carley will be deeply missed, but the essence of who he was will never be forgotten. Donations can be made to two of Jeff's favorite charities
