Joan Carol Hobbs, 71, of Albany went home to be with her Lord peacefully at the Mennonite Home on Friday with her children by her side.
Joan was born in Astoria to Willard and Naida Stahlman Booker. She grew up in the Detroit and Holly/Sweet Home areas.
She married William E. Hobbs on May 23, 1979. They were married 31 years.
Joan and her husband, Bill lived in Lebanon and Albany all their married life. Mom loved to be with her family and her grandchildren. They were members of Albany First Assembly of God and she hardly ever missed going to church. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. Joan loved the music and rarely missed the musicals or times when her daughter would sing.
Joan loved to embroider and sew with her sisters and spend time together. She loved her Siamese cat, Sassy and their dog, Boomer.
"She was the most amazing mother, grandmother, sister and auntie we could have ever asked for. She always put her family first. She had an amazing smile that would light up the room and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her. We all loved her and will miss her amazing unconditional love that she gave to all she knew."
Surviving are her son, Dan Hanson; daughter Joni Killgore; grandsons Chris and Andrew; granddaughter Sarah; sister Marge Crooke; nieces Debbie Still and husband Mike, Robin Keener, and Cheryl Ramsey and husband Jay; nephew Jim Hubbard and wife Linda; and other nieces and nephews; and many dear and wonderful friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, just 4 months ago on Oct. 29, 2010; her parents; sisters Dorothy and Lorraine; brother Norman; and previous husband John W. Hanson, who died in 1975.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March, 24, at the Albany First Assembly of God Church, 2817 Santiam Highway S.E., Albany.
