Joanne Brawn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 6, 2026, in Corvallis, Oregon. She was born on January 24, 1935, in Chester, Illinois, where her lifelong devotion to faith, family, and creativity first took root.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, David Brawn of Corvallis; her parents, Charles and Ethel McKenzie of Chester; and her brother, Charles McKenzie of Kansas City, Missouri. She is survived by her son, Robert Brawn, and daughter‑in‑law Manal of Corvallis; her grandsons, Kalen and Michael Brawn of Corvallis; her daughter, Robin Undlin, and son‑in‑law Milo of Corvallis; her brother Mark McKenzie and sister‑in‑law Sharon of St. Louis, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.

A graduate of Chester High School, Joanne continued her education at Central Bible Institute, where she met David. Their marriage was marked by devotion, shared ministry, and a commitment to raising their family with faith and purpose.

Joanne’s early working years included positions at a hosiery mill and a law office in Chester. After marrying and settling in Corvallis, she worked for the City of Corvallis Water Department and later served as a counselor for Diet Light. When her children arrived, she embraced a treasured role—devoted wife, mother, and homemaker—pouring her energy into nurturing her family.

Creative, artistic, and endlessly resourceful, Joanne had a gift for transforming everyday materials into beautiful works of art. She enjoyed sewing for family and friends and various needle work. Her dedication to physical health was equally remarkable; she rose early for daily workouts throughout most of her life. She was deeply involved in her children’s education, supporting school activities and the Parent Teacher Association. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren, faithfully attending their sporting events, concerts, and milestones.

Joanne accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl in Sunday School and shortly thereafter led her parents to Christ. She lived a life devoted to Christ. She was an active member of Kings Circle Assembly of God Church in Corvallis until transportation became difficult. In the early years of their marriage, she and David led the Christ Ambassadors college ministry at Oregon State University. Joanne taught 3rd‑grade Sunday School and Prims (part of the Missionette program) for many years. She served in Women’s Ministries, coordinated weddings, and contributed in countless ways to her church community. In her later years, she and David visited those who were homebound, in assisted living, or in skilled nursing. They assisted with church services at Prestige Senior Living West Hills, where Joanne shared her musical gifts by playing the piano.

Joanne’s life was defined by faith, creativity, dedication, and love. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the ministries she served, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and grace. She is home with her Lord and Savior.

Memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel in Corvallis on September 25, 2026, at 2 pm.
