Obituary

John Eskel Johnson, 87, of Albany passed away Monday at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Aberdeen, Wash., the son of Peter and Juliana (Rausk) Johnson. He was raised in Aberdeen and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Battery "C" the 506th triple A Gun battalion.

John married Joette Irene Schlegel in Montesano, Wash., on June 10, 1950. He worked as a logger and grader in the lumber industry retiring in 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife Joette in June of 2004.

He enjoyed going to the beach, digging razor clams, Polka dancing, swimming, tennis, fishing, gardening and his annual trips to Crane Prairie.

He is survived by daughters Gloria Bash and Lynne Johnson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

At his request, no public services will be held.
